Mission

The mission of the Centre for Interpretation, History and Memory in Social Work is to highlight the importance of safeguarding heritage and its dissemination and accessibility to the scientific and academic community.

The objectives that guide its mission are as follows:

  1. To conserve, safeguard and study the collections received in the context of the first school of Social Work and its agents;
  2. To interpret and raise awareness of the existing documentary and historical heritage on Social Work and Social Intervention in Portugal and around the world, enabling the creation of theoretical reflections and practical premises;
  3. Mediate a journey through the relationship between a purpose, documentary nuclei, artefacts, knowledge(s) and sensory and emotional experiences;
  4. Transmitting and promoting the knowledge resulting from the heritage studied - revealing meanings and interactions beyond simple information, using the greatest possible diversity of means of expression (creation of scientific, cultural and educational products).
